Operations Director - UKAA

Our Executive search brand Red Penny & Partners are currently conducting a process on behalf of the UKAA for their next Operations Director.

The UKAA

Founded in 2016, the UKAA currently has c.310 members and is growing at c.30% per annum. Members comprise leading investors, operators, advisors and suppliers operating in the sector today. The UKAA also is a member of the global alliance of the NAA (National Apartment Association of USA), which represents over 82,000 members with more than 10 million rental housing units globally.

The number of UKAA members has grown significantly over the past three years, as has the organisation’s remit. It is now seeking two high calibre individuals with a passion for the Build to Rent sector to further enhance the UKAA's value to the sector and its growing membership.

UKAA has a reputation for bringing all parts of the Build to Rent sector together, serving as a platform where all those with a stake in the industry can share and collaborate in non-proprietary environment, working together for the greater good and supporting the sector to go from strength to strength.

The UKAA is very excited about the scope and opportunity the Operations Director role will bring to the organisation.The successful candidate doesn't need to have operated at a Director level previously, instead they will bring an eye for detail and enthusiasm help the UKAA achieve its core objectives.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Responsible for performance of the UKAA in Operations / Events / Marketing / Tech / HR
  • Set strategic objectives as a member of the UKAA Board and Strategic Advisory Group
  • Achieve agreed strategic objectives
  • Identify and exploit opportunities for growth in scope and scale of UKAA activities and revenue
  • Identify and exploit opportunities for increased efficiency, effectiveness and quality of UKAA activities
  • Manage cost and ensure quality and efficiency of operations of UKAA
  • Develop UKAA as a sustainable organisation and business
  • Develop UKAA staff career opportunities
  • Safeguard health and wellbeing of UKAA staff and contractors/partners

 Key Performance Indicators

  • Approval of UKAA from members, staff, sponsors and other stakeholders
  • Financial performance
  • Good governance measures

Key Skills and Experience

  • Experienced manager and leader with relevant experience, ideally including membership and possessing or able to rapidly gain credibility with staff, members and stakeholders regarding BTR / multifamily/SFR
  • Experience and relevant knowledge of some / all of disciplines for which post holder is responsible
  • Robust leadership, management, networking and influencing skills
  • Able to work with key partners in the sector to achieve objectives
  • Strong intellectual capacity and emotional intelligence
  • High energy levels, emotional resilience, determination and perseverance
  • All round business experience, understanding of challenges of running a small business and awareness of key disciplines involved
  • Very strong customer focus
  • Ability to balance competing demands and limited resources
